San Pancho: The Weekend Before Semana Santa - 2011

On the weekend of April 16 and 17--the weekend before Semana Santa--our quiet little pueblo of San Pancho was... well, quiet. Saturday was very quiet on the beach, with the exception of some air traffic (see photos). And while Sunday showed a few more folks than usual in San Francisco, the droves (hordes?) of families heading to beach destinations like Guayabitos or Puerto Vallarta had yet to materialize here. Stay tuned!

Meantime there are two significant (to me) highway department notices worth mentioning: 1) the length of Route 200 from San Pancho south to Bucerias has been freshly painted with brilliant yellow center lines and bright white lines at the edge of the highway, and 2) the same white paint has been applied to the northside curbs of Ave. Tercer Mundo in the central part of town.

Item 1 is a great relief and aid to safe driving for anyone driving on Route 200. The second paint item does make it appear that we about to have parking on only the south side of the street! Which in turn would mean there would once again be two-way traffic on our beautiful new main street.

As of late Sunday afternoon, there's no indication that the gleaming white curbs have been noticed by anyone parking their car or truck.

Finally, the utility pole has been removed from the street on the town side of the bridge.
