Progress is steady and sure as the new bridge into San Pancho, Nayarit, nears completion. The sides of the bridge are nicely decorated with a coal-dark stone facing and tall black street lanterns are posted at the four corners of the crossing. The metal middle section of railing was painted a dark grey, but has been replace by a flourescent lime-green. (Maybe an undercoat I hope.)
Meantime, the CFE has trenches dug and empty conduits going underground on each side of the bridge, presumably to take the utility lines out of sight and to take down the concrete poles that block full access to the bridge on both sides.
The new PeMex station at San Pancho is rising above ground level at a speedy clip. It's rising lot above ground level in fact. It seems to be perched on a hill that elevates it far above the grade of Ave. Tercer Mundo.
While I can't make any predictions about the completion of the gas station, I'd say there's an excellent chance the bridge access will be completed in time for Semana Santa and those two utility poles at the bridge will be gone. Now if folks wouldn't park on both sides of the street entrance to the Bridge!
BTW: please note the "road less traveled" photo, our former lifeline to San Pancho!
